Unfortunately many of you will have either heard the news or be aware that an incident occurred on Coast Survival last night, in which two users exploited a Minecraft bug so as to give themselves the permissions of LearningMonkey and Aleturas. They then went on to grief the server and attempt to use admin and owner permissions to cause further disruption. While this was a serious incident, it could have been a lot worse. Our almost exclusive use of custom coded plugins meant that these individuals did not know how to use commands and permissions, with the exception of WorldEdit which due to a glitch was still installed on the server, and why so much of the disruption ended up being griefing. The most important thing now is to try and return to normality as quickly as possible. Our team has already been hard at work with fixing much of the damage that was done, with Spawn being re instated, and other towns being re terraformed to enable a quicker rebuilding process. We have also reviewed the ranks that had tried to be added to other users and other factors that had been disrupted. However, there are inevitably going to continue to be some issues that need resolving when survival re opens later today. Here’s a quick run down of potentially common issues and what we will be doing to resolve them: My Town Spawn was destroyed/damaged: If you are the Town Owner then please contact a member of staff, who will either put you on a list to be helped, or if they are an admin will be able to directly help you in re building your spawn area. My house/shop was destroyed/damaged: Please contact a member of staff who will assess the damage and what you can be helped with by an admin. If you have any lava spheres or other large world edit formations, you will be assisted as a priority. You will then be assisted when they have time available. If you had chest shops that were destroyed you may encounter some bugs where the chests were - you can contact a member of staff to help deal with this. I was killed and lost my inventory: At this point we do not have the capacity to deal with individual inventories along with builds and towns. However, in the coming days LearningMonkey plans to be online to deal with potential refunds for players. My rank is wrong: Please send a help request or make a thread in the Contact Zone on the forums and it will be resolved. I have additional resources (e.g. diamond blocks/copper): Please give these to a member of staff who will then pass them on to be removed from gameplay. These items were brought in using creative mode and will disrupt the server economy if used. Please do not extend the disruption of this incident any further by not cooperating with us in this regard. Why was this not just rolled back? The nature of this disruption means that rolling back is not feasible and would not work correctly. The majority of this disruption has already been fixed, or can be resolved with some work and assistance from staff. If you have any other issues or concerns then a moderator will be more than happy to talk to you and see what they can do to help, or refer your issue to a more senior member of staff. We would like to apologise for this disruption having taking place, and would also like to thank you and the community for your cooperation in resolving the issues it has caused. The Coast is strong because of its dedicated and united player base, and will be stronger than ever with us all come together.
